Department of Accounting
The Department of Accounting, first established as the Department of Accounting and Statistics in 1963, was founded early in the college’s history. It was renamed as the Department of Accounting in 1991, when the school was designated a four-year college. The night division of this department was set up in 1993. When the school was up-graded to Shih Chien University in August 1997, the night school was also reformed to meet the needs of continuing education. In 2000, the two-year on-job bachelor’s program was introduced.
The accounting profession provides a wide range of opportunities for our graduate students. While many graduates of the Department of Accounting opt for positions with the biggest international accounting firms, many choose initial career paths with smaller firms, corporations, and government.
The Department of Accounting provides students with permanent and part-time job opportunities. Tied relationships with Taxation department, our students get a choice to practice in real life and earned the experience. The Department of Accounting is constantly improving its programs to provide the highest quality education to students.
The faculty has an unbeatable combination of experience and professional and academic credentials. The undergraduate program reflects the latest topics and incorporates current technology. Undergraduate majors use computers in all accounting classes beyond accounting principles. Students entering the Department of Accounting will find an up-to-date curriculum, knowledgeable and concerned faculty, new technology, and modern facilities.
Due to the globalization and computerization of business activities, it is essential for accountants to possess foreign language as well as computer skills besides professional knowledge of accounting, taxation and auditing. In order to build such a learning environment, the department will adjust its curriculum according to the ever-changing information technology and the needs in CPA firms and various business industries.
